Partnering with Uber is almost similar to partnering with Amway. You be your own boss and you determine when you want to work. The difference is, as a Uber driver, if you don't work, you don't earn because you are self employed.
Other things is the startup cost.
Before you even starting earning, you need to spend quite an amount of money.
When you first sign up to be Uber driver, you will be invited to the first session called 'Ignition Session' where you will be informed of the requirements to become Private Hire driver in London. The aim of the session is to find out how to get a PCO license which is a private hire driver license.
Three main things to obtain in order to apply for PCO licence.
1. Topographical test. No fee for this and the test can be taken during the Ignition session.
2. Medical checkup. The cost of this varies from £39 or more. Depends on which GP you go to.
3. DBS/CRB check. This will cost £62 and can be applied during Ignition session.
Once you have completed those three, you can submit PCO application and that will cost £250.
That's not all the cost you have to pay to become Uber driver. Another cost that will incur are insurance as a private hire driver, private hire vehicle license (this is not the same as private hire driver license), MOT certificate (if applicable). And last but not least, you need to have a car that meets Uber vehicle requirement. You are allowed to rent a car if you want to as long as it meets the criteria.
After your PCO application has been approved, you will be invited by Uber to the next session called 'Onboarding Session'.
Uber is a great platform to becoming your own boss. I guess the start up cost is not as huge as opening a restaurant or your own private hire company. Uber has the system ready for you. You just download the app and drive. Everything else Uber will handle. That's kind of similar to Amway but Amway is free to join, so starting a business from break even.

Battle against diabetes: White rice is not worse than soft drink and here's why
I saw someone sharing on the facebook about an article that basically saying that white rice is more potent than sugary drinks in causing diabetes. I was curious so I clicked on it and have a read through. If you haven't read it, here is the source.
For me, I think it's a misrepresented comparison and it can be misleading to people who know nothing about nutrition.
Before I go further, let me first say that these opinions are purely my own. I have also taken nutrition training courses and that's why I think the comparison is nonsense in terms of scientific clinical facts.
Now let's take a look at soft drink, Coke for example:
screenshot from coca-cola website
If you look at the food label on a can of Coke, it contains 139 calories and these calories come from sugar and only sugar.
Now how about rice:
According to Fatsecret, a bowl of rice contains 204 calories. The calorie in the rice can be broken down into different source.
The graphic in the article shows that one bowl of rice equals to two cans of soda drinks and says that a bowl of rice has more than twice the carbohydrates content of a can of soft drink.
Sure, carbohydrates wise, rice is more than coke but if you look at sugar content, rice contains merely 0.08g but 35g is in the coke. So what does it mean?
You see, not all Carbs are created equal
Carbohydrates can occur in three main forms:
Simple carbs which is sugars. That also include fruit sugar (fructose), milk sugar (lactose) and others.
Complex carbs like those in whole grains, beans, rice and many others. Those contains starch and fibre. Fibre is another form of complex carbs that can slow the absorption of sugar and help improve blood sugar levels.
Simple carbs cause glucose is released into your blood faster. Complex carbs take longer to digest and provide slower release of energy. You can see from the picture below how the blood sugar levels rise very quickly for simple carbs but rise is less sharp for complex carbs,
Another thing I would like to point out is, soft drinks contain mostly sugar. These are classified as empty calories as they are high in calories with no other nutrients. So the calorie is 100% carbohydrates and it is a simple carbohydrates.
Rice on the other hand, as you can see, rice doesn't contain sugar only. It also contains fat and protein. Fat and protein don't affect blood sugar the way carbs do. These two nutrients normally do not turn into glucose. They are utilized differently and used for other purposes.
Beside, I am sure most of us don't eat rice on its own. Normally there should be some meat dishes and vegetables to go with it which in better in controlling blood sugar level. Meat usually contains protein and vegetables are mostly fibre, so when eaten with rice, protein slows stomach emptying, producing smaller blood sugar rise and fibre slows the absorption of sugar into the blood which also produce lower blood sugar rise.
Not just that, soft drink is not food. It doesn't fill you up. Rice helps you stay full for a greater amount of time than soft drinks. Soft drinks increased hunger and cravings, usually for sweets which will resort to overeating, often on more carbs.
So how on earth can the food like white rice is worse than a can of soft drink let alone 2 cans in causing diabetes. I think not. So everyone, if you could, do your own research and judge for yourself.

In Dec 2014, my sister give birth to a baby girl. So I am officially becoming uncle.
Then on 2nd January 2015, we finally tie the knot. It took place in UK
we invited our UK friends and families to our ceremony and the reception. I am grateful for those moment. I am now in Malaysia to have my second wedding reception and traditional tea ceremony. One in KL and one in Penang which means I have 3 wedding receptions!!
After getting married, we were getting back to biz and attempt to achieve the free incentive trip by Amway. We did it and were invited to a cruise trip to Bruges. It was great because we get to hang out together with our biz partners on the cruise.
I have been upgrading myself as part on the biz activities because my aim is to help and educate people about losing weight the right way, what exercise best for losing fat or gaining muscle. So I have taken a nutrition and clinical weight loss course and also successfully qualified as Personal Trainer. Hopefully will help assisting me to the next level. Those who want to lose fat, feel free to contact me for free consultation.
Till then..

The Return of...
I know this site has been quite for almost 2 years... obviously since joining Amway and am still doing the business until now. Most people probably would have given up within a year. I am with a group called Healthilite Beautilite (HB).
In the past, when someone introduced me to Amway, I told myself that this wont be the network marketing I would join. Anyhow anyway, I joined and never regretted.
I discovered a lot of things, learnt a lot of new information and still a lot to gain from HB. The reason why I am blogging is I hope I could share what I've learnt from HB.. blogging is one of them. I am not sure where I should start but I will try think of something.
What have I been doing since joining HB? I met a lot of people. Although I lost a few contacts because of what I am doing for my own future, but I meet a lot of new people. honest and caring people. I meet people from all walks of life. An owner restaurant in Chinatown, a pediatric doctor, a PHD student, an accountant and many more. Isn't it great? If you are only confined to your work life, the people you know is your colleagues and most of the time I believe is talking about work whether back stabbing or complaining so and so... most importantly I met my girlfriend and we share the goal of becoming successful in Amway business with HB. Now my sisters are joining me in HB. You see, Amway is not just about money or selling. Amway allows every member in the family to do the business together. You can find your true friendship. A genuine friend will not avoid you when you tell them you are doing Amway... lol..
So I think its worth doing the business as long as there are more to gain than to lose. I have helped many people to get healthy and beauty. Create awareness about the impact of not taking care of ourselves properly. That makes me really happy. Sometimes, I get rejection but I know rejection hurts a second but regret lasts a lifetime.
Another thing I have recently been up to is I have gotten my Indefinite to Leave visa. I have been waiting for this for 5 years! That means I can stay in UK for as long as I want.
Throughout five years, I am grateful for how it turns up today. Although first few years was hard from a miserable broke up to retrenchment but without all those happening, things could be different. I am glad it happened, so I met my now girlfriend, HB and own a property. Nobody can go back to start a new beginning again but we can make a wise decision today and make a better ending.

Big Rock First
How do you make use of your time in a day? Everyone has 24 hours but why some people are able to accomplish more things than the other. I am also in the situation where I always wish to have additional 2 hours in a day. After attending a time management course, time to learn how to put the big rock first.

Bray Lake Swim
Participated in an open water swimming yesterday and i enjoyed it so much. This was my first open water swim in the lake. Lucky I was wearing a wetsuit, you wouldn't imagine how cold the water was albeit the summer weather.
I don't remember my personal best swimming 1.5km at the pool in the past, yesterday was 33 mins 10 sec which I thought was pretty good considering i was swimming in the lake where the water was quite bumpy when there was around 50 swimmers did not have its own lane to swim. I think I could improve next time once i get used to swimming in a wetsuit.

Amway Business Owner
I learnt about Amway UK a while ago and signed up myself as a Business Owner. I have been using Amway products since young while I was still in Malaysia. I didnt see it as a business opportunity until someone introduced me to Amway UK. I thought I would give it a try since it costs nothing to sign up.
Everyone wants to run their own business but starting up conventional business tends to be difficult. Even though you managed to do it, you will be spending each night thinking on how to keep the business survive. Your income is determined by how much effort you put in but in Amway, its a growing sustainable income and you have a team to support you.
I am looking for a business partner to work with me on starting international network. It doesn't matter where you are, we can work together. Amway has given each of us a personal webpage to recruit people.
Here's mine: http://www.amway.co.uk/user/raymondtio
If you want to get a slice of multiple bonuses from Amway, keep in touch with me and we will discuss.
